Bridges Rehabilitation · Structure Type 02
Specialist rehabilitation for highway bridges, ROBs, RUBs, culverts and pedestrian bridges. From condition assessment to load testing (IRC SP:51-2015) to capacity upgrade design — we extend bridge service life and bring them up to modern loading standards.
Most national and state highway bridges in India were designed for IRC Class A or 70R loadings. Today's heavier commercial vehicles and the move toward 100T trailer loads make capacity upgrade essential. NHAI and state PWDs increasingly mandate bridge load testing and capacity certification — work Namotech has been doing for over 18 years.
Across 85+ bridge projects with NHAI, PWD and various state highway departments, we encounter these typical challenges:
Old bridges designed for 66T need certification for 100T trailer loads under modern IRC:6 standards.
Waterproofing failure, expansion joint damage, and rebar corrosion in bridge decks reduce safe load capacity.
River bridges face scour damage to pier foundations — requiring scour protection and foundation strengthening.
Old bridge bearings (elastomeric, POT-PTFE) seize or distort — restricting bridge movement and causing stress.
Chloride from de-icing salts and atmospheric exposure causes rebar corrosion in bridge decks and piers.
Government bodies increasingly require IRC SP:51-2015 load testing before opening bridges to upgraded loads.
Our bridge expertise spans every major bridge type used in Indian infrastructure:
National & state highway bridges (RCC, PSC, composite)
Road-over-bridge & road-under-bridge structures
Foot-over bridges, sky-walks, pedestrian crossings
Box culverts, slab bridges, minor bridges under 30m
Urban flyovers, elevated corridors, viaducts
High-level bridges over major rivers with deep foundations
To establish current bridge condition through systematic inspection of superstructure, substructure, foundation, bearings, expansion joints and approaches — providing IRC-compliant condition rating.
Static load testing of 30m PSC box girder ROB at Bandikui per IRC SP:51-2015. Sequential loading using 4 fully-loaded trucks (64T total). Measured mid-span deflection of 6.2mm against theoretical 8.4mm — confirming higher stiffness than designed. Bridge certified for full HL-93 loads.
